Also known as Hodgkin’s disease, Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a form of cancer found in the body’s lymphatic tissue. The lymphatic system helps filter out bacteria and is important in fighting diseases. Piper was sent home early from WWE’s early-November tour of the United Kingdom and hospitalized for surgery, where doctors removed a mass at the spinal cord with an enlarged lymph node. The mass was completely removed, but the lymph node was positive for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Radiation therapy is used to treat Hodgkin’s lymphoma; it is an extremely successful procedure, so the prognosis is very good for Piper.
Source: -WWE.Com

According to Roddy Piper's website, the Hot Rod felt he has been fighting his whole life. Vince McMahon has already agreed upon a match between the two and they are anticipating a Championship vs. WM Winning streak and are currently pushing a win for Batista. Of course, none of this is confirmed, however it does seem interesting enough to follow. If Undertaker loses his streak o Batista it would give the Animal a major push, on the downside however The Undertaker needs another run as the champion before retirement (I know you all feel the same).
WATCH THIS SPACE! -Follow This Link for more comprehensive news!!

AWF wrestle forum site!!

To all South_African and International wrestling out there: Join this forum today! It is a well known fact that the secret to success lies in listening to your fans and reading what the ratings tell you. At a recent WWE taping loud TNA chants were to be heard throughout the arena -just shows you what the WWE's own fans think of their product! I am a die hard WWE fan and that will probably never change, but in recent times I have to say that TNA has become far more entertaining than the WWE.

Covering the Kurt Angle subject: Who is happy for Kurt that he has joined TNA? Is he going to become another Hulk Hogan? It's only a matter of time before he will be back in the WWE. I'm personally glad he joined TNA, he really seems to be the BIGGEST fish in the little pond at the moment. One has to wonder if there isn't any animosity among previous TNA stars... Angle stealing all the thunder perhaps??

All in all I reckon the WWE is slowly learning from there mistakes, I mean singning Monty Brown is maybe not MONUMENTAL like TNA's signing f Kurt Angle, but the possibilities of this guy is endless. If anybody was held back in their promotion (Angle/Brown) my vote goes to Brown, he had the athletisiscm to get it done and the charisma, yet he wasn't given that much oppertunity. -www.arnold-dewet.com

Well, that covers my bit for the morning... Monty Brown is in the WWE (period) It has been rumoured for months now and the anticipation has reached the top! I am looking forward to his debut in the world of the WWE. Let's hope that the WWE can learn from TNA's mistake of using Kurt Angle (Great addition, but the end result was lame. Michaels and Angle put on a much better show). I can seriously see Monty Brown making a HUGE impact on any brand of the WWE, wether it be Smackdown, RAW or ECW. Vince Russo as the head behind TNA is just looking for trouble -but hey, that's another story for another time.

Monty Brown has tons of potential and might need a bit of fine tuning, but he is definitely on the right track. I Remember watching the triple threat match a while back including Samoa Joe, Rhyno and Monty Brown -That match just blew me away! Brown could've easily had that match up. Jeff Hardy

Thanks to assistance from Melina, Nitro walked out retaining the I.C Championship. From the start of the match it seemed as if Jeff was the odds on favorite. It was Hardy's very first PPV upon returning to the WWE. The two exchanged a variety of innovative moves, with Jeff even hitting the swanton bomb on his opponent. Luckily Nitro had his foot on the ropes to avoid the three count. All in all a dissapointing match coz I was rooting for Jeff Hardy.

Kane vs. Umaga (Double Countout)

Kane and Umaga went at it in the ring and continued to beat each other into the crowd and all over the arena. It's called AWFwrestle.com , see what us South-Africans think about wrestling today -it covers a wide spectrum ranging from the WWE to ROH. Sign up and become a member and share your views in the forums.

My Opinion: I personally like this site because its the closest i've come to a South-African based forum solely on wrestling. The members are great and its real informative listening to their views. Not the best show RAW has produced but it was still action packed. Lillian Garcia opened up with an emotional rendition of the American anthem and Vince Mcmahon has defeated Triple H in his very first match at MSG (with the help of The Big Show of course). It seems to me that the WWE is starting to get solid ratings these days, with a great PPV which was Summerslam and blockbuster shows from Raw and Smackdown, we can all rest assured get ready for a pumped up version of WWE!

Concerning wrestling, it sucks to live in South-Africa and get delayed feeds from the WWE -we barely get to see anything live! Since returning to Smackdown a while back it is believed that he isn't himself. He has been slower on his feet and less confident upon returning to the WWE. Get ready for a Finlay vs. Batista feud in upcoming weeks as the Irish wrestler is going to be used to get people over. Maybe Batista is just lacking some momentum and will be up and running full steam in no time, how about getting Batista to go over to RAW as a heel and feud with DX? The possibalities for the Batista character is endless and I think the WWE should keep him as long as they can just as long as they can fine tune him a bit.

Watch this space to see how the events in the WWE are shaping up!

P.S. -A Brilliant feud is currently being st up between Lashly and Mr. Kennedy which by the way just sounds awesome, these are two wrestlers who will definitely put on a great show!

Possible Kevin Nash And Scott Hall Return?

According to sources, it is believed that WWE is considering the return of Kvin Nash and Scott Hall! Reports claim that WWE wrestlers dont want anything to do with Nash and Hall -all for different reasons. Kevin Nash is too injury prone to be wrestling I reckon he should just give it up. Scott Hall on the other hand was quite entertaining (back in 1996 that is) Keep in mind that both wrestlers are in their late 40's (Hall 48 next month and Nash 47) . WWE should rather focus on bringing in new guys or recruiting wrestlers from rival company TNA. Speaking of TNA, does anybody know if Monty Brown will be signing with the WWE soon? -If you do E-mail me at popdog205@yahoo.com .

In other news, Vince Mcmahon apoligises for the Steve Irwin remarks Matt Striker made at an ECW show, saying that you'll never see him swimming with stingrays! While it did not initially go accordingly, he continued pushing hard to make sure he remained a top star. He even pushed Brian Gewirtz to be added to the Vengeance PPV, and, at one point, was actually scheduled to defeat Randy Orton.

Unfortunately he was busted for failing a drug policy test (using an expired prescription drug). WWE quickly jobbed him out and suspended him for thirty days.-- Vince McMahon gave Kurt Angle a stern warning after learning of his drug policy violation; following that, sources say things began getting messy. Kurt Angle would constantly call, email and text message WWE officials and wrestlers. Some say half the messages were senseless, while half were perfectly coherent.

He was brought back immediately at the end of his suspension only because ECW needed a big star to return. The ECW lockerroom quickly turned on him due to his "impossible" behavior, which included telling an agent that when he accidentally dropped RVD on his head during a match, it was actually RVD's fault. He would have another confrontation with RVD based on something he said in the ring during one of their matches.

Angle also petitioned very hard to be added to the Summerslam card. His campaigning worked, as the original plan was to make the ECW Championship bout a four-way. But, following his groin injury at the 13 August house show, Vince McMahon pulled him from the Summerslam card.

On August 21, Angle called Johnny Ace and said he was being wheeled through the airport. He said his massage therapist claimed he had a torn abdominal muscle. Vince reportedly made a decision at this time to both set up an MRI and, if necessary, release the wrestling machine.

Kurt Angle was released from his contract (along with salary) on 25 August 2006. Terms of his release remain unclear.

Some of the major non-wwe wrestling names (such as rival TNA) expressed immediate interest in Angle upon learning of his release. While he could very well wrestle for another promotion (which would upset WWE, both as a company and as an entity looking out for Angle's health), there is even a slight chance of Kurt Angle crossing over to the worl of MMA! Could you imagine the hype? Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar in a MMA ring would be flat out awesome!

The Latest WWE Tag Team On The Scene!

Shad Gaspard and JTG, known as “Cryme Tyme", were Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental talents known as The Neighborhoodies. wwe.com last night posted a brief article on the duo, stating that they “do outlandish, outrageous “stunts” to ready themselves for tag team action on RAW. Those of us who are wrestling fans always "got it." We get that pro wrestling is scripted entertainment. We may find it ironic when a friend tells us he can't watch wrestling because of how "fake" it is, right after telling us how much he loves "Lost." What WWE does have in common with shows like "Lost," "24," and "Star Trek" is that they all are all scripted shows with a rabid core fan base. Viewers suspend their disbelief in order to enjoy the show, and a smart production crew does everything they can to help the viewer in suspending the disbelief. WWE, however, often fails in this on the most basic basic levels. Most scripted television shows that exist in a specific reality-as WWE does-have what is called a show "Bible." This is essentially a book of rules authored by the creator of the show, that help to establish the realities of the world their characters live in. It is used as a guide for future writers on the show. The original "Star Trek" Bible, for example, stated that characters on the bridge of the Enterprise should never argue with one another.

Once this rule was established on the show, it could be used to the writer's advantage to create drama. While the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise never argued with one another, occasionally they may encounter another ship with a bridge crew in chaos. The writer can use this contrast to show us how noble our heroes are, and how the folly of a less evolved crew doomed them to failure. An occasional bending of the rule can also be used to make compelling television. Once the viewer is convinced that Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock will never, ever disagree on the bridge, it only takes one slightly insubordinate remark from Spock to shock the viewer and create a major plot point. This concept directly translates to and is utilized in pro wrestling.Ronnie Garvin used to throw forward chops to an opponent's chest. Watching him as a kid, I asked why. "Because it's illegal to throw a punch," my Dad answered. Ronnie Garvin was following the no punching rule. When "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin threw a punch, it meant something. He'd knock his opponent out with one, and I believed it.All too often, WWE breaks its own rules or fails to establish any when they are necessary. When this happens, it can frustrate or turn away a fan base. Sorry non-trekkers, just one more "Star Trek" example here. Early in Star Trek history, it was established that Khan Singh (Kirk's villainous enemy played by Richardo Montabln), was a leader of an army on Earth in the 1990s. Later, on Star Trek Voyager, the crew traveled back in time to Earth of the 1990s and guess what? Khan Singh wasn't there. And there was no war! Trekkers who had invested in the story of Khan were incensed. After a series of ignorant writing decisions like this, the fan base began to disappear. This lack of respect for the viewers contributed to the decline of "Star Trek" - it is currently without a TV show for the first time in 20 years. WWE refuses to establish or follow some basic rules in their world. They simply refuse to decide whether the wrestlers can see the camera backstage or not. It is a continuity error that borders on outright stupidity. While the wrestlers are in the arena, we know that THEY know they are on TV. Yet once they are backstage, that seem to not know it anymore. Why? How? WWE doesn't bother to answer. The tragic irony is that if WWE would just decide that the wrestlers live in our world, where when a camera is in front of them, they know it, this rule could be used to WWE's advantage. Recently, WWE ran an angle where Edge and Lita broke into John Cena's father's house and slapped his Dad around. A camera (and presumably a cameraman) was there, and the viewer has no idea why. But what if the rule of being aware of the cameras was followed. The same angle may have developed like this.

I. Jim Ross opens Raw by announcing that Edge and Lita were arrested this morning in the home of John Cena's father. Upon their arrest, WWE sent a lawyer and Raw cameraman to the jail.

II. The jail footage plays. The cameraman is shooting from outside the jail. We see John Cena pull up and enter the jail. Ross reports that Cena bailed out Edge and Lita. Cena exits the jail and waits outside.

III. Edge and Lita exit the jail, Cena jumps and attacks Edge. Cops pour out of the jail, Cena is arrested. IV. Back in the arena, Ross explains that the WWE attorney was only able to find out that there was some type of physical assault in the home. John Cena is not yet at the arena.

IV. Edge and Lita hit the ring, and show the footage of what happened in the Cena home. It is shot by Lita on a camcorder.

V. Cena shows up, free from jail, and attacks.Better, right? In this scenario, you get the exact same angle WWE ran, but with more suspense, more drama, and a stronger payoff to the viewer who is eager to invest in the reality of the WWE world.

While the lack of rules and reality with WWE cameras is a problem, it's nothing compared to the mess that is the WWE brand split. WWE is still scratching their heads over why the brand split hasn't worked out as well as they had hoped, while at the same time they have never established the most basic rules about it. The viewer cannot commit to something that they do not understand. Here are some elementary questions that haven't been answered...Why are there two WWE brands? What exactly is the role of a WWE G.M.? What powers does a G.M. have? Can the McMahons trump these powers? Who is the true champion of WWE? Why is there no match or tournament once a year between the champions of the two divisions to determine the superior WWE champ, as is the case in in MLB, the NFL, and NBA? If no such match is ever going to happen, then why are the champs called the World Champ and WWE Champ, instead of the Raw and Smackdown Champs? Is there a annual WWE draft? If so, when? How does it work? If ECW is a separate promotion, why do WWE and ECW wrestlers bounce back and forth from show to show? Who allows them to do this? Are they paid for those appearances? If so, by who? Are WWE wrestlers paid at all? Who makes more money, ECW, Raw, or Smackdown stars? Do some WWE wrestlers prefer being on Smackdown to Raw? Why? How does if affect their lives and matches? Here is a very small example of how WWE could create drama by answering just one of these questions. Roughly a year and a half ago, John Cena was drafted from Smackdown to Raw. Immediately upon arriving, Cena did a promo declaring nothing but how excited he was to be there.

But this division change would not be all-positive for the character of John Cena. Cena had spent years working his way up the Smackdown ranks to finally become the top dog. Now he's in a new division of hungry challengers that he has never faced and doesn't know if he can beat. There are great stories to be told in this saga of the new champ having to re-establish dominance in a new brand, and WWE blew it all off in one senseless promo. There is a good reason WWE creative doesn't establish more rules in their world. They're lazy. It takes more time and effort to figure out how Edge would break into Mr. Cena's house in reality then it takes to just toss a camera in the room and never address how it got there. It requires more long term planning, and less booking on the fly. It requires them to behave like any other successful scripted television show. Unfortunately, WWE's shortsightedness costs them fantastic storyline opportunities and a more committed, larger fan base. -PWTorch.com

An article that I whole heartedly agree on, wrestling promotions should focus more on plausible storylines rather than selling far-fetched ones. The WWE has great potential at the moment and I will be sickened if they blow it -again! Match ups that could usher in a new era of wrestling would involve younger stars, legends passing the torch to newcomers (Hulk Hogan to Randy Orton) etc. I can sit here the whole day thinking of ideas but I think this editorial spoke for itself!

Cheers!

Wrestling's Greatest Heel

Without a doubt Randy Orton is one of the greatest heels of his generation!

Let's face it, Randy Orton has got the skills to become a wrestling legend himself one day. A holder of the Intercontinental title aswell as winning the the
World heavyweight title at the tender age of 24 great things was to come for the "legend killer".

Randy is the victim of some pporly directed angles from the WWE creative team losing multiple matches the past couple of months and most recently against Jeff Hardy. I believe that Orton could be the one thing WWE seriously lacks at this moment - HEEL. Although he has been suspended his comeback should have been nothing short of spectacular but no, he gets put into his first match against Kurt Angle which he loses. WWE doesn't need to get him over with the crowd as a heel using cheap heat such as insulting the guerreros and being a coward, they should once again give him a title (any WWE title!) and watch him flourish.

On a last note: Who else has the total package (Can be a Heel, Face, has charisma, Talent, Gets over easily with the fans)? I can think only of Kurt Angle but he has left, Triple H and HBK are veterans. Randy Orton is wrestling's future -

IT'S NOT ARROGANCE...IT'S DESTINY

WWE: Rob Van Dam and Sabu Latest

RVD and Sabu appeared today with their attorneys in Ironton Municipal Court. It is rumoured that Monty Brown will likely sign with rival promotion WWE. Killings, on the other hand is reported to be going back to RXLL in Mexico. I For one would like to see Monty Brown on WWE television, he was a great star on TNA and would be a great asset. Monty Brown blames the direction of his character with his departure (working with Trytan didn't suit him well) Apparantly the WWE is seeing TNA has potential competition and are currently setting their site on AJ Styles of all people! I have a feeling this is gonna be just like the "Monday Night Wars" one day!...... Rey Mysterio

A bad feud to begin with, the rivalry between Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero that started at The Great American Bash came to a head at Summerslam. The match saw Rey Mysterio pulling off arial moves and sending Chavo to the outside. Both men even used Eddie's signature "Three Amigos" suplexes! Ultimately it was Chavo getting the win when Vicky Guerrero caused Rey to lose his balance from the top rope and fall to the mat.

Big Show (ECW Champion) def. Sabu

After Sabu was denied facing the Big Show in the weeks leading up to Summerslam, he eventually got his chance. Sabu was pulling out all the stops and showed what extreme wrestling is all about. Unfortunately Sabu's hard work was in vain as The Big Show gave Sabu an extremely powerful chokeslam through a table to get the pin over an exhausted Sabu.

Hulk Hogan def. Randy Orton

First things first, I thought this rivalry had great potential and could have been the one moment that would cement Randy Orton's place as an absolute great. The rivalry started back at Saturday Night's Main Event when Brooke Hogan and Randy Orton met each over. Hogan suffered a knee injury in the weeks prior which made him an easy target for the Legend Killer. This was however not the case, although Orton Isolated Hogan's knee, he couldn't stop the force of Hulkamania. With the big boot and leg drop combo a victory wasn't far away for The Hulkster. Hulkamania ran wild on Randy Orton.......Who cares?

Ric Flair def. Mick Foley in an "I Quit Match"

This feud was fuelled by personal hatred for each other with Flair going as far as to call Mick Foley a glorified stuntman. I was actually shocked to see a guy of Ric Flair's age bringing it to a hardcore legend like Mick Foley. The bout was filled with blood, thumbtacks and barbed-wire! Before the match though, Foley seemed unnerved at the intensity that Flair had at attackinf Foley at ECW. When the dust settled it was Foley uttering the words "I Quit" in front of 16 000 fans.

Batista def. King Booker (World Heavyweight Champion) by DQ

A Rivalry that was every bit as personal as it was exciting, Batista and King Booker really gave it their all to entertain the crowd. It was a see-saw battle seeing Booker almost defeating Batista with a scissor's kick, however Batista countered it with a lovely Jackhammer suplex. Needless to say that Queen Sharmell interfered thus causing a disqualification and King Booker retaining the gold.

Degeneration X def. The Mcmahons (Vince and Shane)

Although the Mcmahons brought in reinforcements including: The Big Show, Umaga, The Spirit Squad, Mr. Kennedy and more, DX prevailed in a good showing. At one point Shawn Michaels even gave Shane 'O Mac a Sweet Chin Music in mid air. All in all this was an exciting match with DX reaping the rewards.

Edge (WWE Champion) def. John Cena

Before the match a confident Edge told WWE.com that he was a master tactitian and he would leave the building with the strap around his waist. Although Edge used some brass knuckles to capture the win, it is no doubt that Edge is a great champion. Hey a win is a win. :-)

Source: WWE.com

The Future Of The Wwe?

Who is the future of wrestling today?

I'm going to asess the talent that the WWE has onboard and has the potential to change the face of wrestling as we know it. A Few superstars coming to mind has to be:

Mr. Kennedy -

Hailing from Greenbay Wisconsin Misterrrrrrrrr Kennnedyyy...Kennedy A great up and comer in the business. Has two legit victories over the Änimal" Batista. He probably has the most tremendous mic skills i've seen in a long while. Mr. Kennedy or Ken Kennedy as he is also known is sure to make a huge impact in the years to come, expect him to wear gold in the near furure!

Carlito "Carribean" Cool -

A Great athlete without a doubt, he has won the both the United States title and Intercontinental title on his debut on RAW and Smackdown respectively. This man has great charisma and exeptional talent. Latest on WWE.com is that he and Trish Stratus is an item! I'm personally in favour of his current push as a face and like to see him rip it up with unique moves such as the backcracker. Now That's Cool!

Shelton Benjamin -

A Former golden gopher, he has trained with the likes of Brock Lesanr and formed one of the top tag teams in their day "The world's greatest tag team" with Charlie Haas. He has won the I.C Championship valiantly and continues to impress fans throughout the globe with unparralelled skills and ability. One of the greatest matches i've seen in a while was the triple threat match pitting Carlito, Jhonny Nitro and Benjamin himself together.

Randy Orton -

Love him or hate him, Randy Orton is a legend in the making. He has defeated Chris Benoit back in 2004 earning him the World Heavyweight Championship at the ripe age of 24, has defeated numerous legends including: The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Mick Foley etc. Unfortunately it seems that Orton is getting a bad break nowadays being suspended for misconduct and smoking marijuana. Although he has attended anger management classes and is looking in better than ever, he still gets stuck with poor storylines. The Legend Killer might be killed himself if WWE creative change things soon! It's not arrogance...It's Destiny!

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO HOLD THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP?

WATCH THIS SPACE.

Welcome to: "My wwe wrestling blog"

Welcome one and all to my very first blog site!

In my blog I will give my opinions, reviews, news and much more concerning the state of Proffesional Wrestling in modern society.
